Garlic Bread

Makes 8 breadsticks, takes 75 minutes

Topping:

  1. Mix yeast into water, let rest 5 minutes.
  2. Mix butter, sugar, and salt into yeasted water.
  3. Mix in flour and knead until smooth, about 5 minutes.
  4. Roll into a foot-long log; cut into 8 pieces.
  5. Roll out each piece to around 7 inches, and arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Cover with a cloth and let rest until almost doubled, 45 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 500°F.
  8. Brush breadsticks with melted butter, and sprinkle with salt.
  9. Bake until lightly golden, about 15 minutes.
  10. Mix salt, garlic powder, and oregano into remaining butter; brush onto warm breadsticks.
