Biscochitos (New Mexican Cookies)

- ½ Cup Butter
- 2½ Cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Egg, room temperature
- ¼ tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Anise Seeds, ground
- 1 tsp Orange Zest
- 1½ Tbsp Fresh Orange Juice
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Whip butter until soft peaks form.
- Add egg, salt, orange zest, orange juice, and anise seeds. Blend until mixed well.
- Add flour and baking soda, mixing slowly until a dough forms.
- Turn dough onto floured surface, roll out, and cut out shapes.
- Bake cookies for 13 minutes.
